The site does not yet have a separate privacy policy page. This article describes what the site records today.
Information you give us
- Your name, display name, email address and date of birth
- Where you heard about us
- Whether you are certifying or recertifying, whether you want scheduling help, and an optional certification ID. Staff use the ID to check that a student is eligible to recertify.
- Your password. It is stored in scrambled (hashed) form, so it cannot be read back.
- Messages you send through the Contact form, tutoring questions and any screenshots you attach, and your forum posts
Information recorded as you use the site
- Your lesson progress, exam attempts and scores, and your answers to exams and drills. This drives your progress, readiness meter and study recommendations.
- Sign-in history: each time you sign in we record the time, your IP address and your browser type. We also keep your last sign-in and a count of sign-ins. This is used for security and to understand how the site is used.
- The IP address is also noted when you start an exam.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not see or keep your card number. We keep a Stripe customer reference, your subscription status and your renewal date so we know whether you have access.
Cookies and browser storage
- A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in.
- Your browser stores exam answers in progress, and your Listen and silly effects choices, on your device.
Who can see it
Instructors and staff can see student details, progress and sign-in information. Other students see only your display name in forums, or "Anonymous" if you post anonymously (instructors can still see who wrote an anonymous post). Tutoring conversations are visible only to you and the instructors.
Your choices
You can edit your details in Account Settings, and turn off notification emails. To ask about your data, see Deleting your account or data, or use the Contact page.
