Moving or missing a date
Rescheduling rules — how much notice is needed, whether a fee applies, what happens if you do not show — are set by the certifying organization and the test provider, and they are in the confirmation they sent you. Check it as soon as you know you have a problem rather than the day before.
If you fail one exam
You retake only the exam you did not pass. Core and each specialty are scored separately, so passing Core and failing a specialty does not cost you Core.
A passed exam stays valid for a limited window while you finish the rest. That window is real and it is worth knowing the date of yours — let it run out and you are retaking things you had already passed.
What to do differently on the retake
Do not simply read everything again. Your score report tells you which subject areas let you down, and this site tells you the same thing from your own answers:
- The Your Performance section on your Operator's Dashboard ranks the topics you keep missing, from your actual answers rather than your impression of how it went.
- If load charts were the problem — and they usually are — the interactive load chart lessons are the ones to repeat, because they make you do the work rather than watch it.
- There is no limit here on retaking a practice exam, and no penalty for it.
Retaking here costs nothing extra
Our courses and practice exams are included for as long as you are subscribed, so preparing for a retake does not mean buying anything again. The certifying organization's exam fee for the retake is a separate matter and is theirs, not ours.
Where we fit in. We are an independent training provider. We prepare you for the written examination and can walk you through the application and booking process. We do not write the exams, administer the written or practical exams, or issue certifications, and passing our courses is not certification. See our training and safety disclaimer.
