Fixed cab (TSS)
Candidates are expected to read a load chart, not recall one: rated capacities, the deductions, the operating notes and the machine's own specifications. Print it, mark it up, and work the practice questions on the paper copy the way you will on exam day.
Study the whole print-out. The notes around the tables carry rules that the tables do not.
The charts
- Training Chart C — Telescopic Boom Crane, Fixed Cab, used in the Fixed Cab (TSS) course. Printable copy.
- Manitex M1768 — a real manufacturer's chart, and the one the Fixed Cab I and Fixed Cab II courses work through. Printable copy.
Where it is used
- Fixed Cab I — operating radius, loaded boom angle, gross and net capacity, and the jib ratings, from the beginning.
- Fixed Cab II — the deductions that get missed: the hanger sheave, the stowed jib, and the set-ups where the rope rather than the chart is what limits the lift.
The Manitex M1768 opens with Fixed Cab I. If that course is not on your Operator's Dashboard yet, it has not been released.
