Updates (Changelog) - October 4 - October 15, 2026
General Website Changes
Operator’s Dashboard (formerly Training Center)
The Training Center is now the Operator’s Dashboard, with a new design.
Four figures at the top: Readiness, Mastery, Coverage and Ready By. Tap any of them to see the breakdown behind it.
Achievements have new names and newly drawn medals, and a crest that fills in with colour as you earn them. Achievements now has a page of its own.
New shortcut tiles for the Training Yard, Drills, Leaderboards, Past Results, Forums, Support and the Knowledge Base.
Your Performance replaces the Statistics tab, and Recent Sessions is at the bottom of the page.
Leaderboards cover the last 30 days and show your display name, or Anonymous.
Announcements from the instructors now appear at the top of the dashboard. Some of them can be closed once you have read them.
Exam Simulator (Mock Exam is now called the Core Evaluation) and Find Crane Training are shown on the dashboard but are not open yet.
Training Yard
The Training Yard is the new courses page. Pick up where you left off, see the Mainline Pathway drawn as a route with your courses in order, and open any course from its card.
Drills (replacing the Daily Quizzes)
Drills are short, timed practice tests. The questions are drawn at random each time you start one, so no two drills are the same.
Core Drill: 10 Core questions in 5 minutes.
Swing Cab Drill and Fixed Cab Drill: 4 load chart and power line questions, then 3 load chart problems using that course’s chart, in 14 minutes.
Subscribers get every drill, as often as they like. Without a subscription you get one free Core Drill every two days.
When you finish, you see your score, your topics, and every answer next to the correct one.
Your streak, the leaderboards, Past Results, achievements and member profiles all count drills now.
Practice Exams
Review Your Answers: after any practice exam, Core Evaluation or drill, you can go through every question.
For each question you missed you see the correct answer, an explanation of why, and numbered references to the OSHA and ASME standards and the lesson that teaches it.
For a missed load chart problem you get a step-by-step reading checklist and links to the load chart guides in the Knowledge Base.
When an exam uses one chart, its title now appears once instead of on every question.
Question Bank
New Hand Signals category with 20 picture questions, one for each standard hand signal. You will see them in Core Drills.
Lessons
All the images in Core I to IV have been replaced. Some are now real crane photos with labels drawn on top, and the rest are redrawn diagrams in a single style. Each photo shows a credit line saying who took it and where it is from.
The hand signal sheets now use a drawn signal person instead of stick figures.
A lesson now only counts as finished when you scroll down to its end.
The next lesson no longer loads on its own when you scroll past the end of a lesson.
Courses
A course that needs a subscription no longer shows an Enroll button to students without one.
New Courses
Signal Person
Added new "Signal Person" course to the Training Yard. This new course is intended for study if you plan on taking the Signal Person certification exam.
Note: This new course does not come with any other additional costs, and as with any other course----is included with the monthly subscription.
This course is also flagged as RECOMMENDED for all crane operators, whether you plan on taking the Signal Person certification or not. It is Whipline Crane Academy's belief that all Crane Operators, whether experienced or new; should be able to confidently give AND receive proper crane signals by hand, voice (radio), or audible methods. Being knowledgeable is key to becoming not just a crane operator, but a GREAT crane operator!
Course Changes
Swing Cab I
Chart drills are now called Chart Practice. Old links still work.
Site Pages
New homepage headline: “Online Exam Preparation for the CCO Exams, made by Crane Operators” (see Compliance).
The homepage has been redesigned, with a sample question that shows topics and explanations, and a phone preview that matches the new dashboard. The Hand Signals phone slide now shows the correct Lower Boom drawing.
The Features page has new illustrated icons.
UI/UX Changes
Dark mode is now the default theme.
New Report Issue button in the menu bar on phones, which takes you straight to Support.
Pages in the learning area now have a darker background behind the crane image, which makes text easier to read.
The moving glow that followed your pointer on the background has been removed.
Capitalization has been tidied up across the dashboard and statistics.
Behind the Scenes
Staff tools improved.
Compliance
Compliance changelogs have been added to serve as documentation of Whipline Crane Academy's dedication to ensuring that our training program meets or exceeds requirements to be a Training Provider. If you have any comments or concerns regarding compliance, please feel free to contact us at our Contact Page.
The site was reviewed against CCO’s Trademark Usage Policy (REV 02/26) and the CCO Candidate Handbook (rev. 1/25), and the changes below were made to match them.
The certifying body is now called “CCO” everywhere on the site, as the Trademark Usage Policy requires. The older acronym the policy no longer allows has been removed from every page and from the site’s search keywords. (Note: We previously did not refer to "CCO" and referred to them as the certifying body or organization while our Trademark Usage application was in progress. We were notified that we are permitted to refer to the "CCO" organization, however with specific permitted uses and/or limitations.)
The trademark notice now reads “CCO® is a registered trademark owned by CCO, used on this site only to identify its exams.” The statement that Whipline Crane Academy is an independent training provider, not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by CCO, is unchanged and still appears on every page.
The footer on every page links CCO’s name to CCO’s website, as the policy asks.
The homepage headline no longer makes a ranking claim (“#1”). It now names CCO as the owner of the exams rather than as a label on our product.
Every CCO exam fee shown on the site links to CCO’s current fee page and is kept separate from our subscription price. CCO’s fees are paid to CCO, not to us.
The Get Certified page has been corrected against the current Candidate Handbook: eligibility, the exam format, the Lattice Boom (LAT) designation, the 12 months you have after your first passed exam to pass the rest, and recertification.
New CCO Resources section on the Get Certified page, plus a CCO Resources link in the footer. It links to CCO’s own pages for the Candidate Handbooks, the Core and Specialty exam outlines, the exam load charts, reference materials, fees, the practical exam, recertification, testing accommodations, the Code of Ethics, the Substance Abuse Policy and the Candidate Attestation. CCO’s documents are linked, not copied onto our site, so you always get CCO’s current version.
The Knowledge Base study materials now cite the current Candidate Handbook revision.
